Weird, loose fibers shouldn't be lost. If that's the case, that means it was poorly manufactured or the guy who asked doesn't know what he's talking about.

After the CF set in resin it's basically a plastic but really really really strong. You don't hear NASA complaining about loosing fibers. If that's the case, their shuttles wouldn't the way they are now (actually NASA is using RCC which supposedly is much strong by adding sets of fibers along the z axis in a 3-d plane.)

Also Warren Thomas makes all these knives with CF and no has complained about this.
