For me, folders are a necessary evil and nothing more. They're more dangerous, weaker, and less comfortable than a fixed blade. That said, ever tried whittling with an 9"+ knife? Doesn't work... And i need folders if I ever want a blade in the city. Portland, Oregon doesn't have an established knife or gun culture, which is annoying and surprising considering that Benchmade, Gerber, Al Mar, CRKT, and leatherman are all based in the Portland are. The end result is that fixed blades are not socially or legally acceptable for carry in the city. For EDC, I use a Leatherman SURGE, a benchmade griptillian, or my Gerber old-timer-style slipjoint (looks to be about 20-30+ years old, perhaps my grandfather's).

Going off trail though.... ZT0200 all the way. The knife's ergonomics are the most comfortable I've ever encountered in a folder, the liners are fully twice as thick as most liner locks, and the finger flip serves as a guard to keep your finger from slipping up onto the blade. The recurve also greatly enhances its slicing abilities. When I first got the blade, I was concerned about the strength of 154cm , as opposed to S30V. All these fears were put to rest when I did my first tests. I decided to practice my fire-starting skills in the fireplace, and I used the ZT0200 to baton through logs and make fuzzy-sticks. During this process, I accidentally cut through the wood, and the pressure on the blade drove the edge straight into the stone of my fireplace. Needless to say, my heart almost stopped. However, only after five minutes of careful examination could I find any signs of minute edge damage. A few sharpening later, its all gone. Now my wilderness EDC is my Ranger RD7 with a ZT in the pouch. Hope that mini-review helps for any of you that had questions about the ZT
