Randy, I usually put a relatively grainy edge on the smaller blades to help with slicing, but I find choppers work better with a refined edge. That said, I fell in love with this thing as soon as it bit into the red wood. It made me feel stupid for humping this darn hatchet into the woods in case the DF didn't "cut it."
