I first push the stone away from spine and the tip angling toward the handle. Once I raise a bur I switch to the other side and repeat. Then I pull toward the spine angling toward the tip only long enough to remove the bur and it's good to go. It is all free hand sharpened and will be a little convex. I first thought of it after seeing Veff serrations there are several way to do it and grit size makes a big difference but I discribe the basic way to do it since I was typing on a iPod
