I do miss him, real funny story about how I heard he passed away.
The last couple of years of his life he had Alzheimer and his son lived in the house next to him.
They lived up in the interior, very rural area.
My uncle spent his last year or so in a small hospital in the nearest town.

My 2 brothers and I went up to that area hunting for 5 days and the plan was to stop by his son's house on day 3 (Saturday his day off) and stop by the hospital on the way home.

Our second day out there, I meet this guy in the woods that I never saw before. This was the middle of nowhere, he was surprised to see me as only the locals knew this area.
I told him I grew up hunting this area, and when I mentioned my uncle's name, he got a look on his face and told me he passed away the night before.
About 2 hours later we were at his son's place who was very relieved to see us because he could not find my dad's phone number anywhere.

It may sound odd but it was sort of fitting that we found out while doing something he loved and taught us to do in the area he loved the most
