Marty, if you look at the state of Missouri, the lower right corner (Southeast) is shaped like a cowboy boot heel, hence the name "The Missouri bootheel". If you draw a line straight east to west across the top part of the bootheel, where I live is in that general area about 25-30 miles west of the Mississippi river.
