my beater right now is a short ka-bar. it has not really been beaten just used to push cut and skin out animals. but I have found it is starting to bend really easily at the hilt. it has bent several times a few degrees and I have to bend it back. each time the 1095 carbon steel gets weeker. it is sad because it was my first real fixed blade knife.
