I got a response from my senator today. I wrote to him a few days ago voicing my opinion on the Nation Right to Carry Reciprocity Act, which would allow CCW permit holders in one state to cross state lines into another state that allows CCW permits to do so without fear of being arrested for practicing their Second Amendment. Being a person who regularly travels across states lines, this is important to me. And, it is a breath of fresh air to hear that my home state representative is spear heading this movement in the Senate.
Here's his reply:
"Dear Mr. Peace,
Thank you for contacting me in support of the National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.
Like y ou, I believe one of our most fundamental constitutional rights is the right to keep and bear arms. That is why I introduced the Respecting States ' Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act . This bill would return power to individual s and to states by allowing law- abiding Americans to carry concealed firearms across state lines in accordance with local laws. This bill would not force states to change their laws and does not force individuals to go through another permitting process.
An individual's constitutional right to defend himself or herself should not arbitrarily stop at the state line. Rest assured that I will continue to work diligen tly to protect the Second Amendment rights of law- abiding Americans.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about other issues important to you."
