The commander of the legion here gave me a complementary membership the first day I went in. He is a Marine and there are only two others besides myself who are members.

The Legion is the only place I get an actual home cooked meal these days. I have been surviving on protein shakes, vitamin water, canned foods like Hormels Turkey Chili and the like.

Sherly, the cook, always comes up to me when I walk in and ask if I a there to eat. Then, before I have a chance to say anything, she says, "of course you are." And, off to the kitchen she goes. She is about 60, a widow and lost her son and grand kids a few years. Bad car accident. She has taken me in as an adopted family of sorts.
