I wish it was that way here. If I am not there it doesn't get done. Not that they don't fill in for me when they can, they just aren't trained for my job nor am I trained for theirs.
I hear ya JJ! When I was in Japan, one year I had to work a week while I was on Leave! That was the only way I could get leave that time cause I was the only one that knew how to do a certain thing. It's kinda the pits to be on leave in Hawaii for a month and have to work a week (well actually 3 1/2 days and I was done). BUT the Col I worked for only charged me for 3 weeks leave time not the full 4 weeks.
