I'm not a "fit and finish" guy insomuch as it dictates the "quality" to mind. However, I do prefer for my stuff to start life looking as good as possible. As such, I don't care if the finish is matte or glossy as long as its uniform on same-material parts (like the upper and lower of an AR).
