As long as you buy a good quality gun, you NORMALLY won't have much to worry about for a casual shooter. Now if you put thousands of rounds a year through your gun, in the long run it might be more cost effective to buy a gun designed and built for that kind of use.
Back when I had a C&R FFL and Class 3 I would get unsolicited "industry" literature.
One periodical had an interesting article regarding the shooting habits of the "gun culture". The article cited a lot of sources for raw data, but concluded the average American gun owner shoots less than one box of ammo through their firearm per year. It stated the average non-wing hunter shoots between 20 and 40 rounds a year. The average wing-hunter shoots between 200-500 rounds a year.
