Yes a light field jacket of sorts, nothing new or fancy about them though Old Timer wink wink they date (as issue items) to WWII being common among the British and German Airborne types. I think the Brits probably took the deign to their peak. They are still issue (here and the UK) now.

They really were not well known in the US till the 80s when "SOF Magazine" use to carry adverts for the British SAS versions and everyone who was "cool" got interested for a bit. I have an OD green Aussie Para Smock that dates to the 60s...it would still make a fine field jacket today.
