Cool Tag. I think I'd like to do the same. Not sure if I should just try it myself or not (on a cheapy). I have a D2 blade that I convexed on sand paper. I need a strop now. Took a long time but it's a hair popper now. That was a $50 blade and only 4" so it was kinda easy for a first try.

I started practicing on an Ontario that I picked up for $11 off eBay. I would not trust my skills on a better knife.

I fall into the camp of 'the sharpening challenged'.

I did the same with Harbor Frieght machetes and rambo knives....I was able to get both razor sharp!!! . My friend was amazed when we went to chop trees that those would do that. Unfortunatly they dont hold the edge for long! but hey what do you expect from HF??? After I was able to do that consistently I started on my SY's. I am about convex my DDF!

I have never hunted an animal, but Ill make an exception for Micheal Vick!
