I told her that I failed night land navigation and had to repeat it. Our Marine pace man was off a bit, so our whole team had to repeat it. No big deal. We all got twice as much land navigation training as the rest. So if Army and Marine Corps officers can fail something, repeat training, and carry on, airmen can too. That encouraged her some. Then after she told me about the retraining, she mentioned that she got promoted today. I congratulated her and told her to drive on. Best to get that task mastered. Lives are depending on accurate targeting. When she becomes a competent airman, nobody will care that she took targeting twice.
