Sumo, sounds like you had a "blast"! I've always wanted one of those SOCOMs. While I don't really like the .308 for hunting (I like really fast rounds), I do think it's a great cartridge. I ended up with a Rock River LAR-8 (I know, Architect, it's a hobby grade firearm). Since I have a R-25 in .243 win, I've never shot the LAR-8. And based on some of what I've read here, I may trade it for a real .308. I should be able to get a fairly straight across trade for a good one.
308 is my favorite hunting round

I know, the .308 is a great hunting round. But, after shooting a .270 WSM, .257 Weatherby Mag, .204 Ruger and light .243 Win, I like having a MPBR over 300 Yards. Although, I have a drop chart pasted to the stock of all my hunting guns, I like being able to point and shoot. I do practice often. In the winter, I shoot almost every weekend.

That being said, there's almost nothing a .308 cannot do that those rounds can. I've just become accustomed to fast rounds.

I did not mean to "dog" your favorite hunting round.
