I need to coat the metal with something. I stripped the tang of the reg and exposed the metal and the steel bar I am using is naked. Think Krylon will do. It won't be visible since I am going to wrap the handle with 550 cord. I ordered camo cord Monday.

I like using automotive header paint--it is a 500 or 100 degree temp that can be got at AutoZone. After the metal is prepared I will heat the parts, and then spray the paint, then hang the parts to be baked in an oven or out in the hot Oklahoma sun. Not sure if you can get the paint over in Germany but there might be something even better due to different EPA regs than what we have in the states.

Thanks. Sounds like the route to go. Thankfully my German buddy is coming to the house this weekend for a BBQ. I will have to drag him to the hardware store as a translator.

The stuff I like is called Duplicolor but not sure if it is available there.
Clean the metal, and prep it by either bead/sand blasting or scuffing the surface up, clean again with MEK/acetone, heat, spray, and then bake in oven or in the sun. I have used it on knives, guns, tools, etc. Nice thing is it wear better than standard paint because it has ceramic properties.
