Jeff, I sorta wish I had went ahead and gotten the .17HMR seeins how The HS didn't cost me any cash. But I was struggling with what I would use it for. Guess I am getting more selective in my old age. PLUS by NOT spending the money for the rifle I MIGHT be able to buy a blade from Blade, IF anybody gets some to sell and they have what I want. I think now I am ready for a MP size blade but I WISH the handle was shorter. I am wanting an OAL of 7 1/2 to 7 3/4 with not more than a 3 1/2 blade and not less than 3 1/4. Oh well, I got one ALMOST like that that I like a lot but it's got a not fantastic 420HC steel and a rubber handle.

If you have a .22 Mag, the .17 HMR doesn't do much more. In fact, with proper zeroing, you really won't be able to tell the difference in drop within the maximum effective ranges of the two calibers. I've used both. I think that the .22 Mag drops the game harder than the .17 HMR especially at the close ranges. The .17 HMR's velocity makes it a bit easier to hit game at longer ranges. But, by the time it makes a difference, you are reaching the far end of the potential for both calibers.
