Well unfortunately, that is my buddy and his boot in the picture. So I don't know how he sliced his boot, but I once had a slice like that in one of my boots and it was from splitting firewood and the axe glancing off the wood and hitting my boot. All I was thinking at the time was "Thank you Lord for steel toe boots"!
